Are You Ready To Learn?

Boaz will be conducting
5-day seminars on the future of guitar building, focusing primarily
on new acoustical physics theories and their application in the world
of fine lutherie. Students will have the opportunity to study existing
theories, such as those of Dr. Michael Kasha, and experiment with construction
according to these theories. Boaz's "Clarita Negra" is an example of
Kasha theory taken a step further. The aim is to not only understand
what Dr. Kasha had in mind when he developed the Schneider/Kasha guitar,
but to apply mathematics and physics to guitar building in an effort
to improve the acoustical performance of he classical guitar, and possibly
to develop a system or systems which will consistently produce an acoustically
perfect guitar. In a broader perpective, all guitars can benefit from
this, particularly steel string and jazz guitars, and this will also
be studied. This course will
be limited to 2 students who will each develop a bracing system, and
at the end of the 5 days will have a complete soundboard and back of
a guitar. Those who wish to complete their project with Boaz's help
will have the opportunity to stay on an additional 3 days for an additional
cost. One particularly interesting aspect of the course will be the
almost exclusive use of handtools.
